Global Recognition for ACG Yoobee Packaging Pro

Clever packaging produced during his Diploma of Computer Graphic Design course has landed ACG Yoobee student Roydon Misseldine a spot in the semi-finals for the first round of this year’s Adobe Design Achievement Awards.

Just 26 entries from across the globe have been selected as semi-finalists in the Packaging category.  Of those, Roydon’s two entries were the only ones from New Zealand that made the grade.

Campus Academic Manager at ACG Yoobee Wellington Nick Webster said it was a huge achievement.

“It is always really exciting to see the vast range of creative work our students produce, but it’s even more exciting when that work is recognised by global leaders in the industry,” he says.

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards have been recognising top new creative talent from around the world for the past 15 years. Both groups and individuals compete across a range of categories, covering Interactive Experience Media, Motion and Video Media and Traditional Media.

Two groups of semi-finalists are selected each year (April and June), to be submitted for final judging.  The first group of submissions for 2015 drew a total of 805 entries from around the world.  Of those, 174 – including Roydon’s two packaging projects – were selected as semi-finalists. Overall winners are to be announced in September and October.

“It’s a great platform for tertiary level design students to showcase their creative projects, gain global recognition, mentorship, and a bunch of cool prizes like Adobe software and cash,” says Nick.

For Roydon it’s yet another feather in his cap.  Currently studying Digital Media at ACG Yoobee Wellington, he has bagged a heap of national and international media coverage lately thanks to the stellar success of his new start-up studio, Subject Studios.
