Annual General Reports can be the epitome of dullsville. Unless of course you’re a company executive, director or passionate shareholder. Graphic Design student Cassidy Taylor is none of these things, but her latest brush with the world of financial statements has proven to be anything but boring…
Theobroma Chocolate Lounge is a local haunt for me and my friends. I’ve always wanted to learn more about the company, so it seemed like the obvious choice for my AGR (Annual General Report) Brief. It was a challenging assignment because Theobroma didn’t have any previous AGRs on their website, so finding the information I needed was a bit of a mission! However I’m wrapped with the end result. I love the way the bite cuts out of the page give it a unique and edgy vibe, and the layout of the black and white photos with the typefaces make it feel quite luxurious. I got great feedback from my classmates too!
I created my AGR using Photoshop for the photo manipulation and InDesign for the layout. I really love using InDesign - most of my design work is more layout focussed rather than illustration focussed and I like the structure that this software gives you. I’d already had quite a bit of experience using InDesign during high school, but I’ve become even more proficient since studying at ACG Yoobee.
We’ve also used Illustrator a lot during this course. I actually hated working with it before I started my Graphic Design Diploma, but now I really like it! I used both Illustrator and InDesign for the FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) Packaging Brief, which we’ve also just completed. For mine, I redesigned the Nerds packaging. What do you think?!
It’s been a busy time. With the AGR and FMCG briefs now under our belts, we’ve now launched into our Studio Project. This gives us some real-world experience as we get to choose a real business to rebrand and redesign. I’ve picked my local church, the OTBC (Oxford Terrace Baptist Church). As well as working with them for my Studio Brief, I’m also helping them outside of class with their new website design. It’s going to be great experience for me as I’ve never been involved in website design before. I’ll let you know how it’s going when I check back in next month. Adios!
