A new wave of young designers is about to emerge in the Bay of Plenty.
The inaugural graduation of ACG Yoobee Tauranga’s digital media foundation course took place last night – and the work that was on show was off the hook!
The 11 graduating students were aged between 16 and 19, and the Level 2 course provided the perfect platform for them to tap into their creative sides.
According to Vocational Pathways tutor Kevin Sharp many of the graduates were so inspired by their digital design studies that they’re now keen to pursue further studies in the creative industries. If the work they produced is anything to go by, these teens have promising creative careers ahead of them.
“They produced a great mix of print, film and web-based work for their final exhibition, and it was fantastic,” said Kevin.
The students planned, organised and executed the entire graduation exhibition themselves, right down to catering for the 60 friends and family who came to celebrate their achievements. “The evening was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. I’m so proud of every single one of those students – to see such a huge transformation in such a short time frame has been an amazing thing to be a part of.
“Several parents commented on how wonderful it had been watching their child’s skills, enthusiasm and confidence blossom during the six month course, while others described the course as life-changing. These comments go to show that ACG Yoobee really has something special to offer the Bay of Plenty region.”
