Advanced 3D Graphics Students Take a Bow

A new wave of insanely talented bright young things are about to hit the Computer Graphics industry.

Last Friday 13 budding designers from Yoobee Auckland impressed and inspired industry guests, friends and family at their Diploma of Advanced 3D Graphics graduate exhibition.

Head of Faculty for Multimedia Valentina Scopazzini described the graduates as “an exceptional group of talented artists” with extremely bright futures ahead of them.

“I strongly believe that any of these graduates will find their place in this industry either in New Zealand or, for the more adventurous, overseas,” she said.

“I have seen these students grow into incredibly talented CG artists, each with their own specific strengths and skill sets. I would like to encourage them to not stop learning, but to be the hungry, cool bunch they have been here at Yoobee.”

Some of the graduates have already been snapped up for exciting CG and animation roles, and Huhu Studios and Flux Animation are also showing an interest. Other VIP’s who attended the exhibition, including creatives from Grinding Gears, Yukfoo, Buildmedia and Vaka Interactive, were equally impressed with the calibre of work produced by the students.

They may have finished their studies - but the Yoobee journey is not quite over for this group of new graduates. Together as a class the students have produced a short animated movie, ‘Encroached’. And this little gem has just been picked as a finalist for the upcoming Tropfest Film Festival 2017!
