Got digital design in your DNA? iCreate explores the high-octane world of digital media, and is the perfect course to unlock your imagination, enhance your skills and prepare you for further study. This is where your creativity and digital technology collide – and multiply!

Using digital still and video cameras and computers, you’ll produce a wide range of original art that combines traditional and digital media. You’ll also learn digital illustration techniques and how to create images and pages suitable for web publication, how to capture and edit video, and how to create and animate 2D and 3D objects. This work is complemented by a wide range of art and creative practices to further enhance your skills base and prepare you for further study.

Diploma in Digital Design – Web and Graphic

40 weeks NZQA Level 5

This programme is totally new. Designed to meet the latest industry demands, it provides an excellent starting point for students looking to study further in the fields of Graphic Design & Web Development.

Ever thought about how everything you see on a screen is really a bunch of zeroes and ones? Turning those into something beautiful and user-friendly is the craft of the designer. With this programme, you’ll take your first steps towards becoming one, learning how to use graphic design to produce websites, software, and user interfaces.

You’ll get a taste of all the major components of graphic design and web development over the exciting 40 weeks of the programme. You’ll be working on in-depth projects that will go into your portfolio, preparing you for further study or a great entry-level job.

Upon graduating this course, you’ll receive the NZ Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 5).

Build on your existing knowledge of Photoshop, and learn how to make the most of this awesome software. Work with advanced paragraph and character options, use advanced layer styles and blending modes, create effects using filters, use liquify tools and create custom brushes. You’ll also learn to use vector drawing and shape tools, create swatch libraries and spot colour channels, and use monotone and duotone colour modes. Our resident digital illustration expert will be walking students through several exciting illustration projects. Using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, you'll learn and practice cool new techniques using a graphics tablet (we'll provide these!). The tablets let you draw in Photoshop and Illustrator like you would in real life, but with every brush and colour you could imagine! You'll learn lots of tricks to enhance your work, and at the end of the course, print them to take away! Open to Year 9 - Year 13 students only.
