Capture and develop expert techniques to equip yourself for the professional photography industry.
You’ll be taught by real photographers how to master the technology of digital image production, visualise concepts through images, and develop the competence to analyse your own work and the work of others. We provide high-quality professional equipment, lighting, post-production software and more. The photo shoots will increase in scope and complexity throughout the year.
Each element of the diploma is designed to fulfil industry requirements and prepare you for high demands so that you are ready to independently complete complex photographic assignments at a professional level of competence, both creatively and technically.
Getting ready for the creative industry
To prepare you for the challenges of professional photographic work, the course includes lectures, demonstrations, workshops and training exercises on the following aspects of photography:

You will leave South Seas with new-found certified skills, a professional portfolio for industry interviews and a business plan, along with your own logo and website platforms.
Successfully complete this course and you’ll receive the New Zealand Diploma in Photography (Level 6).

Although South Seas supplies all the relevant studio facilities and equipment, including computers, students should have their own DSLR camera kit and tripod to use throughout the course.

The Commercial Photography Course (CPC) is open to all New Zealand and international students.
International applicants must be 18 or older and demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS level 6.
All applicants must complete the course application form (including written requirements) and submit to a formal interview (international applicants may do this via telephone or Skype).
All applicants must submit a portfolio of at least five or more of their own photographs in digital or print form, relevant to the aims of the applicant. If submitted in digital form, photographs should be sent in jpeg format: large picture size of 1280 x 1024 and a file size of approximately 280-380 KB.
