Got digital design in your DNA? iCreate explores the high-octane world of digital media, and is the perfect course to unlock your imagination, enhance your skills and prepare you for further study. This is where your creativity and digital technology collide – and multiply!

Using digital still and video cameras and computers, you’ll produce a wide range of original art that combines traditional and digital media. You’ll also learn digital illustration techniques and how to create images and pages suitable for web publication, how to capture and edit video, and how to create and animate 2D and 3D objects. This work is complemented by a wide range of art and creative practices to further enhance your skills base and prepare you for further study.

Entry Requirements close

There are no restrictions to entry. An interest in design and basic computer skills are all you need.

*If English is not your first language an IELTS 5.5 Academic (no subtests lower than 5.0) or equivalent is required. You can also sit for a free Online English Placement Test as an alternative proof of English level.

Course Components close
  • Core Skills – learn how to use a digital still camera, scan images, use image and illustration software to create and manipulate images, explore the use of pattern and texture, create a visual diary, learn design principles such as colour theory, pattern and texture, and computer file management.

  • Print – discover the production planning process for printed documents, create single and multipage documents for printing, and understand graphic design terms and principles.

  • Motion – gain an understanding of the production planning process for animated and video based stories, understand film and animation terms, make a short film, model a simple character and animate a supplied character.

  • Interactive – learn the production planning process for web-based projects, understand web and new media terms and produce a basic interactive website.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is based on project work, and visual and oral presentations. There are no exams.
