We want you to squeeze the most you can out of your Yoobee experience! From meeting you on arrival, to arranging accommodation and giving you practical advice – our friendly, approachable team will support you and make sure you feel part of the Yoobee family.
International Student Support Staff
Each Yoobee campus has a dedicated liaison officer to assist international students and advocate on their behalf. We have English language support on all three campuses, and our Auckland campus has a full time English teacher.
Our team will give you the assistance, information and support you need to find a great place to live while you’re studying with us.
Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students
Yoobee School of Design has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. Copies of the Code and translated copies are available from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website. Translations are available in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai.
Check out the www.immigration.govt.nz for full details of immigration and reporting requirements, and advice on working while studying in New Zealand.
ELIGIBILITY FOR HEALTH SERVICES
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services in New Zealand. If you need medical treatment while you’re here, you may be liable for the full cost of it. Find out more about entitlements to publicly funded health services on the Ministry of Health website.
The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand - but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Go to the ACC website for more information.
MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE
International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand. We recommend the Southern Cross Medical and Travel Insurance International Student Max policy, and can arrange cover for you for the length of your visa. For more details check out Southern Cross.
