Exhibitions Galore for Game Art Fans

Keen to check out some off-the-hook game art this week? Well if you live in Wellington, you’re in luck! Play by Play – New Zealand’s first international games festival – is taking place in the Windy City, with an extremely awesome free exhibition running from now until Saturday at Thistle Hall, 293 Cuba Street.

The exhibition features work from artists from all over the country – lots of cool, crazy stuff inspired by games and games culture, including the work of two supremely-talented ACG Yoobee students, Kate Selby-Bennetts and Andrew Shnetler. And best of all? The artworks are all for sale, so you can snap up something sharp for your lounge wall!

While you are there, be sure to jump on to the arcade machine that our innovative Head of Faculty for Game Art and Development Taylor Carrasco knocked together recently. It’s got a dozen or so of our students’ games on it, so get playing!

And while you’re in the hood, you’d be mad not to nip half a block round the corner for a peek at ACG Yoobee’s first Game Art and Development Graduation exhibition ‘No Clip’. Held at Toi Pōneke Arts Centre, Upper Hall, (61-69 Able Smith Street), we’ll have the crème de la crème of our students’ work on show. This is an interactive exhibition with loads of games to play so don’t miss it. It’s free and runs from midday til 7pm this Friday and Saturday.
