Christmas has come early for a group of former students from ACG Yoobee Tauranga.
Although the campus is closing its doors, Yoobee graduates will be able to keep creating, thanks to the donation of 18 iMacs. Last week staff at the design school decided to dish out the computers to help keep the teens inspired and on-track with their creative careers.
“Many students who studied with us did not have their own computers, so it was a good opportunity to help them out,” said Tauranga Campus AdministratorMayumi Hutchinson.
“Obviously with the campus closing we no longer need them. They are just ordinary iMacs but for students who love creating things on computers they are gold.”
One of the happy recipients is Tauranga teenager Isabella Lawrence. Since having her work noticed at a Yoobee exhibition earlier this year she has been snapped up for work, and believes having her own computer will be a big help.
“I have just had my first photography job and had photos published in the newsletter but up until yesterday I still didn’t have my own computer! I’m so grateful to Yoobee,” said Isabella.
Fellow graduates Shane Curran, Aimee Horsefield and Mahalia Ngatai Thompson (pictured here from left to right) are equally delighted with their early Christmas haul!
