Finding work in the creative industries has just become a whole lot easier, thanks to the launch of ACG Yoobee Careers Fairs, which kicked off in Wellington and Auckland last month.
The Fairs bring top industry employers and ACG Yoobee jobseekers together under one roof for an exciting day of industry networking, job interviews, guest speakers and one-on-ones with key employers. They are the ideal way for ACG Yoobee students to get noticed and get a foot in the door to their creative careers.
On September 22, 150 students descended upon ACG Yoobee Auckland armed with CV’s, showreels and portfolios. Employers included the likes of Sakura TV, Depot Artspace, Zesty Design and Chillbox Creative, and guest speakers from FCB, Talegent and IEP were another highlight.
Careers Advisor Galina Velas said the inaugural Auckland Fair was such a hit that it will now become an annual event.
“This is the first time ACG Yoobee has held a Careers Fair, and based on industry feedback we anticipate next year’s event will be even bigger, and we are aiming to double the number of guests who attend,” says Galina.
Wellington’s event, which took place a week earlier, was equally well received.
“We changed the original model of a Careers Fair to a Careers Day, bringing in industry and graduates as speakers to better meet the Wellington creative market,” says ACG Yoobee Wellington Careers Advisor Serena Marston.
“We had two panel discussions which commenced with a segment on internship opportunities, plus a Q & A session following each speaker.”
Guest speakers included creatives from Park Rd Post, DNA, Dusk VFX and digital agency Prefer.
And for those further south – don’t panic! Your turn is just around the corner with ACG Yoobee Christchurch gearing up for their first ever Careers Fair on November 3!
