“Since graduating with my Diploma in Animation and Digital Video at the end of 2010 I’ve been based mainly in India. My first job was as a Roto Artist at Pixion CCL, where I got to work on a number of Bollywood shows. I then joined Labyrinth Cinematic Solutions as a VFX Compositor. Labyrinth is a boutique studio which has lots of international clients. Whist there I worked on television shows such as Sleepy Hollow and Fringe, which were shows outsourced by Pixomondo. I also worked on a festival film which had all the super heroes frozen in time in Clark Kent’s apartment! That was kind of cool!
“From there I joined Red Chillies as a Compositor to work on a show which had a lot of FX intensive work – you can see some of it if you check out my showreel. For nearly two years now I’ve been working as a Compositor in Prime Focus World’s Hollywood Division. The role has given me the opportunity to work on quite a few prestigious shows like Sin City 2 – A Dame to Kill For; Kingsman – The Secret Service; The Gunman; and Mission Impossible 5 – Rogue Nation.
“Even to this day the skills I learned at ACG Yoobee help me, especially in regards to planning and attention to detail, which are very important when working on big shows. My Diploma covered everything, from scratch right through to the end, from story boarding to post-production. We were taught every aspect of it in detail! I had access to great equipment whenever I wanted, all my questions were always answered, and if ever I had any doubts, my tutors would always help me out. Now I’m in a creative career, doing what I like to do the most – create!
“I’ve always wanted to work at Weta Digital and am continuously working towards achieving that goal – so hopefully I’ll be back in New Zealand soon!”
