Balancing the gender scales in New Zealand’s tech workforce
Yoobee College of Creative Innovation has joined forces with Datacom, to increase the number of women pursuing and excelling in careers in technology.
On Friday 22 November from 1 – 4.30 pm NZMA, NZST and Yoobee Colleges are holding their first joint research conference. We are very excited about the collaboration and the 17 speakers that will showcase their research that is at various stages from just starting and planning, to fully completed with interesting results.

As a user interface designer for Fisher and Paykel Healthcare, Jonathan Ellis creates medical devices used in the treatment of over 12 million patients each year. It’s work that he finds exciting, inspiring, and incredibly rewarding.
Alex Ewing has always been a trailblazer. When his military career was cut short by a medical condition, the travel-mad Scotsman was propelled into new frontiers, using the setback as a launchpad into the burgeoning IT sector.
He’s worked for the best VFX studios in the world, on the most legendary movie blockbusters of our time. From The Adventures of Tintin, District 9 and The Lovely Bones to The Hobbit, Ice Age 5 and Captain Marvel, when it comes to animation, Te Awamutu’s Jesse Lewis Evans is a force to be reckoned with.
"I’ve always encompassed a strong passion for streetwear design, so naturally I based my studio project around this. The variety of work includes brand logo, apparel and clothing design, POS tags, stickers, photography, posters, a lookbook, web design, video editing and dieline for a jewellery box."
