Career Exchange: The Digital Storyteller — Marcus Logan on Design, Brands & Podcasts
We welcomed Marcus Logan, Founder and Director of Via Digital, for a live podcast and Q&A exploring design, branding, and the power of authentic storytelling.
Our first Career Exchange session kicked off with a burst of creativity and conversation as we welcomed Marcus Logan, Founder and Director of Via Digital, for a live podcast and Q&A exploring design, branding, and the power of authentic storytelling.
Marcus has built a reputation as one of Aotearoa’s leading digital storytellers, helping brands connect through strategy, design, and podcast production. His work spans collaborations with Between Two Beers, The Dom Harvey Podcast, and SportsCafe, along with insights shared on Wanna Podcast? about the evolving podcast scene in New Zealand.
From the moment he joined the conversation, Marcus’s relaxed honesty and curiosity drew everyone in. He spoke about his early days studying journalism, the leap from traditional marketing to social media, and the bold decision to start his own creative agency during lockdown. What began as a freelance experiment has grown into a thriving business helping creators and brands turn stories into experiences that truly connect.
“Competence builds confidence — the more you do, the braver you get.”
— Marcus Logan
The discussion covered everything from creative leadership to the fast-changing world of podcasting. Marcus shared his philosophy that learning happens through action — encouraging students to experiment, take risks, and build resilience. He also opened up about how AI tools are reshaping creative practice, calling them “assistants, not replacements,” and urging future marketers to become fluent in them.
Students were quick to jump in with thoughtful questions on audience targeting, AI ethics, content strategy, and what it takes to break into the marketing and podcast industries. Marcus’s answers were refreshingly practical: start small, stay consistent, and make things that matter.
“Authentic storytelling will always outlast trends — people can feel what’s real.”
— Marcus Logan
The room buzzed with ideas long after recording ended. For many, this first Career Exchange offered a rare glimpse
into what it means to build a creative career in real time—balancing experimentation, technology, and authenticity.
A huge thank-you to Marcus Logan and Via Digital for sharing their journey and insights with our Yoobee community. The session was an inspiring start to the Career Exchange series and a reminder that storytelling—in any form—remains one of the most powerful tools in design and communication today.
