Humans + Machines: How AI is Redefining the Next-Generation Workforce
Our Masters of Software Engineering (MSE) and Masters of Business Informatics (MBI) students attended the “Humans + Machines: Redefining the Next-Gen Workforce”.
Last 23rd of October, our Masters of Software Engineering (MSE) and Masters of Business Informatics (MBI) students attended the “Humans + Machines: Redefining the Next-Gen Workforce” seminar hosted at Potentia HQ in Auckland.
The event brought together industry professionals, educators, and students to explore how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are transforming the way we live, work, and create value in the modern economy.
The seminar focused on how AI and automation are redefining industries and creating new opportunities while reshaping existing roles. Industry leaders shared insights into the human and technical skills that will remain essential in an AI-powered future, including creativity, emotional intelligence, data literacy, and ethical reasoning. Students gained valuable perspectives on how to pivot, reskill, and thrive in a job market that increasingly values adaptability, interdisciplinary thinking, and innovation. The discussions highlighted that the future workforce will not simply work with machines but lead them, using technology as a tool to amplify human potential rather than replace it.
Our Masters student, Alexander Rebaula, reflected on his experience: “They talked about how humans operate AI, not how AI operates us. It was my first time attending that kind of seminar; it was really wonderful, the host, people, and food. I was able to connect and hear many experiences.”
The event also offered students a relaxed and social environment to connect with professionals and peers over drinks and nibbles. These conversations provided opportunities for mentorship, internships, and collaboration, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice. Importantly, all ticket proceeds were donated to charity through Humanitix, allowing students to contribute to a meaningful cause while learning and networking.
For students preparing for internships, capstone projects, and future careers, experiences like these are invaluable. They help broaden understanding of industry trends, align academic learning with real-world demands, and strengthen professional networks. At Yoobee, we believe in learning beyond the classroom by immersing students in the evolving technology landscape and connecting them with leaders shaping the digital future. Events like “Humans + Machines” reflect our commitment to fostering innovation, curiosity, and real-world experience, empowering our graduates to become the next generation of forward-thinking technology professionals.
