Adam Woodgate

About

Adam Woodgate teaches on the Bachelor of Digital Innovation and Diploma of Creative Marketing programme at Yoobee College of Creative Innovation and is the Representative for Design and Digital Innovation on the Yoobee Colleges Research Committee. He holds a Master of Media and Creative Technologies (Film and Screen Studies), for which he received First-class Honours, and a Bachelor of Media and Creative Technologies with a Double Major (Film and Screen Studies/Animal Behavioural Science), awarded by the University of Waikato. His Masters dissertation involved the analysis of behavioural and physical representations of the Tyrannosaurus Rex in film and scientific art, and comparison of these depictions with scientific information, as the basis of his creative research project, resulting in a VR experience.

Over the years of academic study and subsequent teaching at the University of Waikato, Adam has gained experience in combining his passions of animals and nature with film, art, and games, resulting in an understanding of how to combine very different research fields and how to encourage students to use this approach towards their own study passions.

Adam constantly seeks to improve his knowledge and understanding of various fields and approaches to creative outputs and content, whether this be new software, ways of creating, or key information that becomes available; he likes to learn and continue to learn as much as possible to further reinforce his own practices.

Adam is currently working on two research plans, one analyzing and comparing the narrative structures and formula behind Disney animated films, of which the goal is to answer the question of “what is the Disney formula?”, and the other is creating crochet representations of extinct dinosaur species to incorporate into a stylised children’s book, delivering scientific information in an easy to understand and visually exciting way.
