In this course, you'll delve deeper into the conventional design process and learn how to channel that knowledge into creating epic works of art. From digital packaging and posters to magazines, brochures, and ads, you'll explore a wide range of mediums while honing your technical skills and nurturing your creative vision.

We’ll teach you typography, layout and how to capture and manipulate images. You’ll deepen your understanding of the conventional design process, and you’ll learn how to channel that knowledge into the creation of epic work, from digital packaging and posters to magazines, brochures and ads.

Gain the practical software, creative and pre-press design skills that industry is crying out for.

With this qualification, you’ll be highly sought after for both your technical smarts and creative vision and ideally placed to launch your career in any number of exciting areas, such as design agencies, print and pre-press, packaging and finished art, typesetting, magazines and newspapers, advertising and image retouching.

For digital design junkies like you, every minute of this 40-week course will be pure gold.

Graduates of the course receive the New Zealand Diploma in Digital Media and Design (Level 6).

 

 

What you'll learn

Branding

Discover how branding and identity influence consumers' views of products and services and create a range of visual assets, including print, screen, public advertising and uniforms.

Information Design

Learn to design publications that speak clearly to a target audience. Work with typography, layout and visual components to create deliverables that are bang on the money.

 

Product Launch

We’ll take you through the process step by step, kicking off with creation of deliverables, and working our way through bar-coding, QR codes, product photography, dielines, packaging and printing. We’ll even show you how to access crowdfunding.

Event

Create the visual and experiential elements of an event through experimentation and research of way-finding, user experience and the creation of inspired and effective digital and print collateral.

Software:

We provide you with software licences for: Adobe CC suite, online collaborative design tools.

Equipment:

You are required to bring your own device. This allows flexibility of study outside of class hours and seamless remote study in the event of another lockdown where classroom facilities are inaccessible. If you do not own your own device, please discuss this with one of our team at enrolment.

Students must have graduated from the Level 5 Diploma in Digital Design – Web and Graphic Design, or have a portfolio assessed by the Head of Faculty. Download our portfolio guidelines for this course.

International students need to be at least 18 years old.

If your first language is not English, you must demonstrate English language proficiency at the level of IELTS (Academic) 6.0.
