Priyan Lawrence Jayamaha
About
As an Animation Lecturer at Yoobee College of Creative Innovation, Priyan Jayamaha primarily teaches in the third year and Honours program of the Bachelor of Animation degree at the Auckland City Road campus. With a passion for animation, design, web design, advertising, and multimedia technologies, he has been working in creative industries for the past 20 years. Priyan’s work has taken him to countries like Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and New Zealand, where he has gained experience and expertise in various creative disciplines and collaborated with amazing people.
With a focus on staying current with industry trends and technologies, Priyan enjoys exploring and experimenting with new technologies and processes. His main specialisations are 3D production, visual effects, augmented reality, virtual reality, and design. Before joining the Yoobee Colleges, he was a 3D Generalist at Cirkus Productions, where he was involved in various stages of production, such as modelling, rigging, animation, simulations, lighting, rendering, and compositing.
In 2020, Priyan Jayamaha achieved a Master of Technological Futures qualification, for which he explored the emerging technologies of Mixed Reality, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality and their applications to New Zealand education. He has developed an innovative integrated augmented reality board game for primary school students to learn the History of Aotearoa in a fun and engaging way. Priyan’s goal is to use animation and emerging technologies to create teaching tools that can support education in Aotearoa.
