Introduction to Information Technology

This course introduces the key components of information systems, enabling you to compare and evaluate combinations of hardware, software, and networking to recommend effective solutions. You will also explore security strategies aligned with emerging technologies by analysing and applying solutions within simulated case studies.

Information Technology in Business

You will learn to apply development lifecycle models to support and improve business practices, while also using data models to enhance decision-making and operations. The course also develops your ability to design accessible and user-focused interactive digital media by applying core UX and UI principles.

Programming Essentials

This course provides hands-on experience with coding tools, teaching you how to plan, create, test, and document a simple program while developing foundational programming skills.

Professional Practice in Information Technology

You will strengthen your professionalism and critical thinking by engaging in collaborative, scenario-based projects that mirror real-world IT environments and decision-making processes.

HWiNFO, CPU-Z, Microsoft Office, Windows 10 (base machine), PC Building Simulator, All Microsoft operating systems, Linux operating system, Microsoft web expression, etc.

To run the software required for this course you need to meet the below minimum systems requirements:

CompTIA are an industry-recognised authority and its A+ certification is internationally recognised as the benchmark for IT Technician training.

Software licensing is provided for students for a whole one year. This amount can be covered by Studylink's courses related cost loan.

Have NCEA credits at Level 2 or 3, with appropriate credits in mathematics and digital technologies subjects. Or, have one of the following:

• Skills gained through study, work and/or life experience or,

• New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User)(Level 3) or,

• New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Advanced User) (Level 4) or,

• New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4)

If an applicant's first language is not English, they must demonstrate English language proficiency at the level of IELTS 5.5.

International students need to be at least 18 years old.

NZ$93.5K (Auckland median IT base salary). Entry-level salaries range from NZ$46–65K.

Graduates can apply for jobs as a Field Service Technician, Service Desk Analyst, IT Support Technician, Helpdesk Representative, System Support Technician/Specialist or Desktop Support Administrator.
